Had on-tap at Burning Barrel Brewing in Rancho Cordova, CA
Appearance - Served up in a large tulip, opaque and pure orange in color. Barren surface, no lacing.
Smell - Fair peach and cream in the nose. Also a hint of chocolate?
Taste - Very creamy upfront, but only a trace of peach. Turns quickly to the finish that develops notes of semi-sweet chocolate and black licorice. What?
Mouthfeel - Medium-bodied with fair carbonation. Drinks smooth enough, but hard to drink with such an odd flavor happening.
Overall - Rare miss from Burning Barrel. Am I taking crazy pills? I'll have to try this again at some point, because it's tough to believe I'm tasting these odd flavors I am. But maybe I am. Regardless, not good in this moment. (Update: Had it twice more before they ran out, and the flavor profile never changed).
