i think there was a time when this was an amber or dark saison on plums, now its pale beer, looks like it used to be bottled in darker form, but is now canned in lighter form, i missed the old one but am loving this can, lots of plum character, vinous tang, nice wild funky fermentation profile here too, well conditioned in the can, very drinkable as these go, not too sour, and listed on the can at just 4.9% abv, so nice and light too. a little cloudy but some soft pink to light violet color does peak in, and its fizzy and collects an airy inch of belgian looking white head, dont mind the slight sedimented dullness. the nose is tangy and tannic, the skins of the plums present as vinous but i get hints of raspberry and even blueberry too, ripe sweetness seems mostly fermented down, twangy and wild too though, some bretty funk setting in, a rawness to the grain foundation, there could be some unmalted wheat in this, light spiciness to me as well, white florals, red currants, trace watermelon and hibiscus too, really dynamic and not at all over fruited, i think the ferment drives it as much as the plums. the flavor is similar with rose and light red wine character through it, a hint of almost rhubarb tangy astringency drying it right out despite the fruitiness, lovely with the funk and springy floral nuances this has, a cool minerality exists as well, earthy and grounded in a neat way, and while this is cohesive and subtle its also layered and complex, i like the carbonation activity too, can conditioned i would think. neat use of the plums in a beer perfect for emerging spring, i head these guys were for sale, hopefully the beers continue, this is great. also would love to get my hands on a bottle of the older dark version, hope to track one down!

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
