Poured into a Gulden Draak tulip. Pours a hazy, light to medium yellow-orange with a half finger white head that dissipates to patches with light lacing. Aroma of grainy saison malt, a touch of bretty yeast, orange and lemon. Flavor is grainy malt, lemon, funky brett, grapefruit with a bretty grapefruit finish with light to moderate tartness on a level with grapefruit juice. Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess. I've been watching for an approachable saison from this brewery as many of their beers are wild ales that are too tart for me. Also interested in what fresh hopping might do for a saison. While the sourness is moderate and passable for my palette, there is sadly no much hop character I can detect, although I'm sure the citrus and especially grapefruit are hop contributions; not getting much herbal or bitterness. His is a satisfactory saison, but not quite to my taste.

2023 Amarillo version, 3.5%.
A pale straw yellow with a dense ,white head that falls off rapidly leaving little lacing. The nose is a combination of Amarillo dry hops and Brett, reminding me of New Belgium's Le Terroir. Clove, mild plastic, earthy. The older component of the blend dominates here. The palate opens tart and brisk, with zippy carbonation, bright acidity and a deeply funky Brett expression, clove, plastic, mild lemon peel that pairs harmoniously with the hops. The FH character is arguably minimal, with the Amarillo catty and grapefruit notes most noticeable. Drying, funky finish. Supreme drinkability.
