Appearance: Light bown body with a light tan head.
Smell: Smells of fresh coffee and malts.
Taste: Coffee right away with the malts a bit on the thin side. Mild bitterness and roastiness imparted by the coffee. No lingering aftertaste noted.
Mouthfeel: This is very drinkable and a bit thinner than I would like to see a porter. I think that Carlyle's was going for a session porter and made it a bit thin.
Overall: Ok beer. Not much complexity and thin for the style, but if you feel like throwing back several dark beers in one sitting this is not a bad beer option in rockford.
