Clear red-brown color. Poured a medium height head that collapsed to a patchy skiff after a couple of minutes. High flow of mixed sized bubbles rising from the bottom of the glass. Left very intricate lacing. Second pour from the can was slightly hazy.
Light malt and hop scents dominate. Slightly sweet and fruity. Some yeast underlies the other scents. Swirling the glass kicked up a much stronger malt and more distinct fruit smell, but I couldn't identify the fruit. It was like a blend of figs and stonefruit.
Starts rather sweet and slightly fruity, but the malt quickly covers that up. Mild-medium bitters fill in. There is a hint of something slightly sharp and acrid, like a blend of something charred and metallic (steel, not aluminum can flavor). In most cases I wouldn't like this, but it seems to enhance the other flavors. The bitters build up stronger over time. The aftertaste is bitters with a bit of malt and the odd char/metal flavor.
Light tongue tingling. Turned into coarse bubbles.
This was very interesting. Normally either char or metallic flavor is a big turn off for me, but the blend seemed to enhance the rest of the flavors. I hope I'm not actually drinking some corroded piping. Seems to be more bitter than typical for the style.
