(Served in an American pint glass)
A- This beer is a deep brown almost black with a thick tan head.
S- Strong smell of sweet cherries almost a syrup with a strong Dr. Pepper aroma.
T- Strong cherry flavor with a faint black roasted malt and some chocolate malt finish the taste.
M-Very thick mouthfeel but no astringency or alcohol warmth.
D- This is Cherry beer first and porter second. It would be nice if the flavors were more in balance or the cherry flavor was more fresh cherries and less syrupy sweetness.

This is the former Port Washington Black Cherry Porter, now brewed and served exclusively at Hops Haven.
I thought this had a bit of a Smith Brothers cherry overdose at first, but then Ive just been fighting a cold with massive doses of Sucrets and cherry Cold-eeze. If you let the beer warm up a little, though, the cough syrup harshness mellows to a pleasing Black Cherry Shasta taste, which still lets the maltiness of the porter come through.
