Month-old can poured into a tulip glass.
Pure pineapple juice body with heavy, cloudy haze, creamy (lactose) murk, and pale yellow-gold coloring. Half-finger head of creamy, tightly compact bubbles that falls quickly to a sudsy foam cap (more than just thin film) and provides spotty lacing. Well-carbonated, incredibly creamy and juicy looking beer.
Pure, juicy pineapple on the nose, too. Additional notes of juicy fruit gum, mango, tangerine, green grape, mint, dank grass, grapefruit, papaya, and red berries. A little bit of vanilla cream from the lactose, which gives it a slight creamcicle vibe. Nice dank aspect, though it's moderate at best. Quite grassy, a touch herbal and green. Smells sweet, though perhaps I'm looking for it given the lactose.
Figured I knew what I was in for given the nose and given my recent experience with other Arvon offerings, but the taste profile on this one was not at all what I expected. Incredibly mellow overall, with minimal residual sweetness and an extremely dry, almost astringent finish. Very grassy and starchy, almost chalky. Fruit-wise, I get lemon, grapefruit, wine grape, and (strangely) pear more than anything. There are other citrus and tropical fruits in the mix, but they're all very underripe so hard to pinpoint. A fair amount of pith and pine at the end of the sip before the astringency kicks in. I honestly don't get much from the lactose -- maybe just a touch of fruity sweetness? I like the pith and bitterness, even if I was expecting something different. Unfortunately the taste experience isn't nearly as layered and multi-directional as the nose (or other Arvon hazies), and the astringency really steals from everything else.
But as expected, this beer is incredibly silky and creamy. Soft, smooth, moderately carbonated, and just a touch "chewy."
