Oatmeal Stout

Poured from 16 oz. can into a stemmed tulip glass. The color is between dark ruby and mahogany and it sports a thick, creamy, light khaki head and heavy lacing. A pleasing nose with burnt coffee, oatmeal, caramel, and brown sugar. The taste is roasty and quite bitter. There is a hint of the sweetness of the smell but perhaps due to the age of the can it's barely noticeable There is acidic burnt coffee and bitter char. I like the mouth feel; it's thick and quite creamy for its modest 4.2% ABV. Overall, I wish I had drunk this can earlier. That's on me. Everything about it is solid except for the extreme bitterness. I'll bet it was more complex and balanced when fresh.

Pours a dark brown color with a foamy tan head that lasts quite a while. Aroma of grains and roasted malts. Taste is roasted malts, dark chocolate and black coffee. Thinner than some stouts I've had. Slightly bitter finish.

S - Aroma is black coffee and roasted malts,

T - The taste black coffee, dark chocolate, flaked oats and roasted malts.

M - Medium body with medium carbonation. Creamy mouthfeel with crisp dry finish.

O - Really solid coffee forward oatmeal stout. Super crushable at 4.2%.
