On tap at the Herkimer. This beer arrives a clear brown color. The head is a billowy two inches of foam that recedes slowly leaving nice lacing. The aroma is of caramel, roasted malt, and a mild sourness. However, it is all quite faint. The taste is similar to the aroma with a sourness being a little more pronounced. I'm pretty sure the sourness isn't supposed to be there, but it is and it distracts form the rest of the beer. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Overall, this is my least favorite offering from the Herkimer. I can't see myself drinking this again.

A - pours black with a small head
S - smells of dark fruits with some roasted malt and some smoked character
T - starts off with with sweet malts and dark fruits (figs and spicy Plums). Ends with some smoked malts and a little malty.
M - mouthfeel is nice and full and goes down nicely
D - pretty decent dunkel. Nice malts with interesting fruit slickness that keeps it interesting. Probably the best beer I had from them all day. Recommend.

Cloudy brown color with light and wispy head of lacing. Served with a lemon slice. Spicy malt nose. Spicy attack and flavor. There are citrus-like sour notes resonating in the flavor. Very different from other dunkelweiss beers that I have had. Drinkable, but odd. As for appearance, I chose to knock it down as the lemone wedge threw me. Had I known it was going to come that way, I would have requested it deleted. I didn't know where else to "penalize" for this. Its my opinion, but I just didn't think the lemon was necessary.

This pours a ruddy brown, nearly black color. Small head, lots of lace, This is a great dunkel. Smells like sweet malt maybe a little spice - clove? Taste like a good wheaty malt-centric beer. A lot of roasted flavor, coffee is in the after taste, but not really anywhere else. Lightly carbonated and eminently drinkable. This one reason why The Herkimer is better during the cold months. Their dark / unfiltered beers are much better than the lighter ones.

Reading the past reviews maybe this beer has been revised. I found it to be very solid.
A-Deep copper with uby brown highlights. Thin tan head that disapates to leave spotty lacing.
S-Roasted malt with a bit of smokiness.
T-Lovely. Rich and roasty, some chocolate in the background. A twing of smoke in the finish.
M-Medium body with a nice overall roundness. Full flavoured.
D-Like porter lite. A really nice, interestingly formulated dunkle. Tasty...I would be happy to have another...oh wait, I can...it's 2-for-1 time!

This was a weiss beer? I guess that could explain the smooth mouthfeel, but something about this beer's malt profile felt a little american. Not much German yeast profile presence, just some smooth chocolate malts. Reminds me a bit of the smooth, but slightly bland bock from Granite City.
I'm not sure where the weiss comes in, but its still not a bad beer.

Color is of clearish chestnut brown with a ruby-like quality featured through its body, tannish thin puffy head that fades to a skim always present and lace in tons of spots all over the glass. Smell is faint, barely there, roasted malts and not mush else. Taste is subdued sweet roasted malts, a touch of chocolate malts and hops but the sweetness dominates a bit much and the character of roastyness is all but smeared away faster then a you can say t...too late. Feel is a lighter medium body, smooth and fresh but far too sweet and boring. Nothing going on in this to make any impression. Forgetable. Passable.
