Like Robert Smith on the beach this black lager is the perfect summer beer for those who prefer the fall. Soft and light with a rounded, malty finish. A moderate bitterness with a subtle spicy, floral noble hop aroma is complimented by notes of roasted coffee and bakers chocolate.

Poured from 12oz can into a dimpled mug. This can appears to be about a year old, but I figure for a schwarzbier, that's fine.
Appearance: rich, dark brown hue with a haze-free body and a finer of frothy tan foam. Looks good to me!
Smell: semi-sweet with a moderately strong yeastiness, but not too much for the style. There are notes of chocolate and caramel coming through in the malt; quite nice.
Taste: like the aroma, there's a little bit of sweetness here but it's not too much at all. The roasted malts lend a flavor and bitterness that's reminiscent of baker's chocolate (but in a good way). Solid beer.
Mouthfeel: medium body with a decent carbonation and creaminess.
Overall: an all-round good schwarzbier. I've had this on many occasions; just getting around to reviewing it finally. I don't think the age on this can has hurt it at all.

12oz can Prost! 01/25/22. Served in a pint glass. Beer is deep dark brown, approaching black, and forms a huge tan head. Looks great, but negligible aroma. Flavor is dry, crisp, with a bitter edge of blackened malt. This could be a dry stout or a porter just as well as a schwarzbier -- in my experience this style doesn't need to have nearly this much dark / burned malt flavor, just color. Still it's an enjoyable beer and it doesn't taste like a hundred other beers you could have picked up this week.

Received from @snaotheus in the NBS BIF #14. Canned on 9/3/2021. Poured into a Pilsner glass. It pours a very dark cola-mahogany color with a thin, ecru-colored cap and lacing. The nose is roasty with lots of nutty char. The taste is fuller than I anticipated. It's roasty, nutty, and fairly bitter with lots of burnt coffee grounds and some bakers chocolate. It also has a nice, spicy element at the back end. The mouth feel is creamy and the 5.5% ABV is appropriate. Overall, Goth Beach Party is well-crafted and tasty. It would be a great pairing with a burger or deli sandwich or for casual drinking. I suspect it's really good on draught.

Schooner at the brewery.
Pours black with a small head. Medium carbonation. Smell is roasty, malty, slight smoke.
Taste is soft, moderate sweetness, mild smoke, dark toasted malt, maybe a hint of toffee.
Mouth feel is dry and light. Overall, good beer.
