Snagged a bottle from a competition.
A - Pours dark mahogany with a 2 fingered capuccino head. Dissipates slow, but leaves no lacing.
S - Cinnamon, brown sugar, and molasses.
T - Chocolate, molasses, maple syrup, chocolate, brown sugar, bittering hops and a hint of alcohol.
M - Full bodied, malt dominated, syrupy and sweet. Slightly cloying from notes of brown sugar and maple syrup. Very creamy with low carbonation and light alcohol.
D - It's good. Good start may use some improvement with additional hop flavor to reduce cloying and sugary taste.

A- Pours a chocolate brown hue with very little head.
S- Dark fruit, raisin, brown sugar
T- Lots of fig, raisin and brown sugar. Slight mettalic taste.
M- Thick with a lot of carbonation
D- This was a great example of the style. Aside from the off taste at the end I really enjoyed it and would love another.

1/2 pint at the Stone World Bistro on Sunday for four dollars, reviewed from notes, nice to see Valley Brew getting some love on the lower part of the state
A-Very hazy and a mix between dark amber and medium brown in color, 3/4 inch bubbly off white head that went away fast, not much retention or lacing
S-Prunes, roasted malts, almonds, toffee, milk chocolate, some spices, molasses, and some hoppiness
T-First thing I noticed was roasted almonds and a nice nuttiness, some dark fruits and neutral malt in the middle, finish had some heat with an evident alcohol presence, some dryness in the aftertaste from light hops as well, was not sweet at all like other old ales I have had in the past, almost could have passed for an imperial brown ale if it was not for all the dark fruit later on once it warmed up
M-Boozy, roasty, and slightly sweet mouthfeel, could probably use a little more carbonation, medium bodied and murky, taste lingers
D-Could not drink much of this, flavor is rich and heavy on the stomach for that reason, ABV is not very high but it is definitely there, not the smoothest of beers
"This beer is similar to a Barleywine but with slightly lower alcohol strength and lower hop bitterness. The beer is full of "malty" toffee, caramel and treacle flavors with a low carbonation level and is often aged for years in wooden barrels."
I did not know what this was when I ordered it but could immediately tell it was an old ale, the nice thing about it was that it was not as strong as others in its style, would drink again if I saw it probably, recommended
