22 ounce handbottle courtesy of Steve, thanks for sending me this true rarity, had to be at the actual party up north to try this one otherwise, poured into my Westvleteren chalice
A-Color was a medium orange with some red and brown highlights, there was a 3/4 inch frothy light tan head that lasted five minutes or so, decent retention, some nice lacing as well
S-Smell was fantastic with a mix of fruit, tart, and hops, also toffee, floral accents, funkiness, caramel, medicinal smells, grassy accents, lots of sweetness, cherries, hint of oak, and booze
T-Great flavor overall, welcomed by honey, then some sweet caramel malt in the middle to go along with the sweetness from the wheat wine, finish has some slight tart with ripe cherries and barrel aged characteristics including oak and very light vanilla, gets sweeter with some warmth and then the fruits really jump out, there is still a dry aftertaste which is good and helps balance everything out, sugary and candy-like with faint tart, yes please, the kriek is definitely there but pretty mildly if that makes sense, the wheat wine is the dominant base and the cuvee's most noticable part in the mix is the sugars and malts that are typical of a quadrupel, wow this stuff tasted awesome
M-Tarty, sweet, sugary, malty, and dry mouthfeel, perfect amount of carbonation kept it from being syrupy, medium to full bodied, taste lingered nicely, coated the mouth and changed as it warmed, very enjoyable
D-Drank this whole bomber myself and wanted more, great drinkability for a beer this sweet and strong, alcohol is hidden incredibly well for a beer over ten percent, smooth and inviting, not heavy on the stomach
Description: "The beer is a combination of our Late Harvest Wheat Wine with small portions of Fat Freddy's Freaky Kriek and Cuvee Speciale blended into the batch."
Wish I had more of this but just thankful I got to try it in the first place, one of the best blends I have ever had and certainly one of the better beers from Valley and that is saying a lot since I have not had one I was not fond of yet, if people had access to this brew, the hype would be huge, would love to drink again but not exactly likely at this point in time, highly recommended if you ever get the chance
