Canned in a big old tallboy crafty craft can and purchased from Portland Wine in Sale's Nook row of shops
Pours a jet black body with decent foamy tan head
Aroma is caramel syrup espresso
Flavour is that aroma

So much taste, considering it's a 6,5% ABV stout. Taste like it's at least 10 % ABV, but without being boozy. Balanced, and fruity. Figs, raisins, coffee, dark malts, caramel. Creamy mouthfeel. Velvety smooth. Really delicious. Öl och whiskymässan 2026.

My second from Pomona in three days, courtesy of London's House of Cans. After a quick read thru their portfolio, they certainly use interesting and funny names. And from my modest sampling, the brews have matched the names. No complaints on creativity nor delivery. For all that they have done at such a young age, I give Pomona very good Overall Hugs.
As a Pastry Stout, Sugar Looks like a dessert that should be eaten... slowly to prevent a sugar rush. A big mocha head fades quickly. Smells are pastry as much as they are stout. While sweet, Taste is somehow balanced. In a full-mouthed style, this somehow is only medium. A great pairing with traditional English toffee pudding.
I will continue to explore Pomona's brews, and not just because of names and labels.
