This is a very enjoyable beer and it is close to being a great beer.
I purchased a bottle of this beer at the brewery a few weeks ago. Poured into a tulip glass. Dark brown color with nice initial beige head and good curtain lacing. Smell and taste of the maple (up front) and blackberries ( at the end). Becomes warming and boozy as you sip it. Smooth, full feel but I think it could be a bit richer.
This brewery does a nice job at their bottled, high ABV beers. This beer is a good example.

This is an Imperial Stout aged in Blackberry Brandy Barrels (no fruit added, just a type of Brandy)
A: Pours a dark brown, nearly black color. A small beige head forms and sticks throughout as a cap. Light lace is left behind.
S: Oh man. Lots going on here. Brown sugar and baked bread. Wood, vanilla, dark fruits and chocolate covered berries.
T: Like the nose, lots going on. Brown and caramelized sugars, just a tiny bit of roast. Baked dark bread that is all very warming. Some wood and vanilla. More actual blackberry fruits can be detected, and becomes nicely acidic. Which cuts through and balances the sugars and heavier flavors. This is decadent and really enjoyable.
M/O: A full body, as the malts give this a nice chewiness without being over the top thick. Surprisingly carbonated at first, but that becomes ultra smooth as this breaths. A big one, but such a nice sipper. I could come back to this with ease, and just enjoy sipping for a while.
Decadent, but at the same time very moreish. It hits that really good balance, especially considering the ABV. I have been gravitating to these big beers less and less over the years, but this one is really well made. Highly recommended.
