The third IPA in our single hops series is hazy apricot in appearance with a pillowy white head. Citrus zest, tropical fruits and dank notes on the nose continue through to the palate. Moderate carbonation brings forward the flavors of fresh pineapple, green mango and orange juice that the Citra hop is known for. This juicy beer is rounded out by a soft resin finish.

Can dated 12/23/20 (with a "best by"date of 4/1/21, so I'm just sneaking in under the wire here). Poured into pint glass. Huge blocky head on a murky amber body. Retention appears to be verging on immortal. Initial impression is strong citrus, with notes of passion fruit, mango, berries, and caramel. Mouthfeel is medium and slightly sticky. Finish is sweet, citrus-y, and not particularly bitter. Overall, not bad not a little on the sweet side for my tastes.

Poured from the can into a Spiegelau IPA glass.
Classic basic NE like opaque body, not quite turbid but very close. Muted dull orange and somewhat brownish-yellow in color appearance. Head creation is really nice, beaming four fingers tall, real even bubbles and very fine sized, with a giant amount of cascading lacing as it settles with big clumpy attention and a bright white look.
The aroma is a big hop blast. Giant rinds of citrus lemon and orange zest on the nose, followed by a big dank note that hits with a wallop. Juiced up but with tangy depth of marmalade like hinting bitterness and sweetness you could practically bite into. Neutral malt and yeast presence. Very impressive hop front if fairly straightforward.
Real good palate as well. Light bodied with just enough of depth in feel to support the flavors, but lack a bit of density. Mid palate hits with a light pine herb sting then gets into more earthy character at first. Aftertaste has a real nice orange zesty sweetness that hints with a real herbal minty warmth. Faint hints of tropical fruit, and more citrus seem to keep waffing up as well.
Great aggressive and easy drinking IPA from the lab.

16 oz can, about 2 weeks old
Hops: Citra
This is my first beer from Astro Lab and it's more than disappointing. Murky, burnt orange color. Nose is very weak for a 2 week old IPA. Taste follows suit. Just boring and flat. An amateur effort.
