Poured from the can into a Libbey style pilsner glass.
Deep brass and slightly hued dark brown edge body color, with real nice reams of carbonation. White forming head, a little spritzy in consistency with a quick settling to a very small collar.
Light sensing sticky toffee, quite crisp sensing with a touch of woody oak as well too. The combination comes out real nicely here with just some hinting sweetness of well. Does tend to get a little bit on the tannic side and even almost varnish like smelling but tolerable.
Palate seems to go in a few odd directions. Light crisp malt of toffee, but I think there's a bit of diacetyl action going on here as the mouthfeel is slick and the flavors are a tad buttery. Finishes with some woody tones, but also some more sweetness of popcorn quite a bit also. Nutty just a little, with a faint toffee note also.
It's not the worst diacetyl bomb, and it's tolerable, but certainly they have done better, even in the lager department which they aren't always known for.
