Poured from the can into a large snifter glass.
Big bubbly and thick tall reaching tan head, IPA like and giant retention with a thick bubbly collar once it dissolves. A giant whopping fistful of mocha head and thick bubbled lace sits on a very dark nearly black body. This is a bit large and kind of scary looking if I do say so myself.
Aroma is a bit closed but subtle. Mild notes of char like malt and suple roast character. Faint dusting of hinting dark chocolate, even sort of creamy sensing in that vein as well.
Palate makes some interesting notes. Light bodied, but flirting with wet even for a basic stout. The beer takes some time to open up but does eventually reveal itself. Light dusting dark cocoa powder with a light body almost ashen like in flavor. A surprising black licorice flavor of candy on the aftertaste which is a real nice surprise too. The mouthfeel just barely flirts with a touch of fizzy water but luckily still make a supportive palate for the flavors to dance on.
Fairly decent beer, but takes some time to show it's stripes.
