Poured from the can into a nonic(k) pint glass.
Deep and quite a surprising dark walnut brown and nearly black body. Hints a slight tinge of red to it also. Head creation manages about two fingers, but also is quite light getting more into khaki than tan colored. A fine puck manages to settle with a good 2 mm sized collar and no lacing.
Real decent aroma. Toasted malts, with a nice faint hints of sweet bread. Flirts even with licorice notes but stick to classic malt character that is a little more diverse, showing off roast, molasses, bread crust, and even a hint of milky to vanilla like sweetness.
Palate simply gets the job done. A lighter body but I anticipate that at the given 4.5% which makes certainly for an easy drinking experience. Light touch of roast, particularly a milky coffee angle that comes out nicely. There's a touch of fizz like mouthfeel though but it's not horribly distracting. Small hints of cream at the end just a bit, with a good dark roast making for a nice mix of dark and light contrasting flavors.
Decent Irish stout.
