Thanks to Pinz412 for this one, from NBS BIF #13. 16oz can (no date) poured into 14oz teku. Poured the expected solid black color with 3/4 inch of white head that had very good retention and light lacing.
The aroma had a lot of vanilla upfront, no surprise since the label tells us it was made with extra vanilla, The base beer was present, just a bit buried.
Similar on the tongue; vanilla dominant, but the base was more notable, and there was a notable alcohol taste on the back end.
The body was full and smooth, with a sweet finish that also had a bit of alcohol burn.
Drinkability was very good, although a sipper for sure, not a quaffer.
Overall, a very nice take on the style. Certainly worth a shot if you see it.

Look - Pours a jet black topped with a homogeneous, yet fleeting, tan head. It just looks thick.
Smell - Vanilla, bitter baker's chocolate, and roasted malt are the biggest aromas on the nose.
Taste - This stout just tastes deep and dark. The malt is roasted heavily and the vanilla is abundant on the palate. There are underlying notes of bitterness in both coffee and chocolate forms.
Feel - Thick and rich, this is a very full bodied stout, with no cloying sweetness.
Overall - A very good imperial stout thoughtfully conditioned with vanilla.
