Very light yellow color, and minimal white head. The aroma of lemon and apple. Sweet taste with a hint of citric acid. Beer? I doubt it. Barely drinkable liquid.

This is a recent appearance on the Moscow market, first sited (and bought) in a kiosk near the metro station closest to where I live. I'm guessing that it is a seasonal. It comes in a clear long-neck 33cl bottle with a red and white label. The front is in nothing but English, while the back label is in Russian. The neck label proclaims that the brew is cold filtered. The list of ingredients includes malt syrup, sugar, apple juice concentrate and a lemon-cider aromatizer. No hops. Bottle on 10/03/03, I opened it on Halloween afternoon.
Yup, it's an apple beer alright. Looks like apple cider, with a greenish tint to the gold. The head was short-lived and very fizzy. The nose was full of apples, with just a touch of malt. The mouth is very prickly and heavy with sweetness. The taste is of sour apples. There's a bit of malt in the background of the finish, but the overriding taste is apple. The aftertaste is tart and sweet. It's not bad, actually, but it really is pretty far removed from the beer experience.
