i really wasnt wild about this oatmeal stout, it tasted thin and muted compared to the porter, but the nitro sometimes does that, seems to tame beers down a little too much at times, and maybe thats the case here, but side by side this one just seemed to have a lot less flavor than the porter, which was quite good. dark and frothy, lasting little bubbles of light brown on this one, not a ton of viscosity for the style, and not as outright black as a lot of them look, a tad lighter here. aroma and flavor show the roasted barley but little else to me, and the fermentation profile is a little strange, almost like an english strain done to warm, past bready to slightly estery, weird in the style, a little bit sharp to me. i dont quite get enough from the oats to make this silky or fuller or satisfying in that deep and hearty way i like from the style, but the flavors arent bad, is just very safe and mild to me. it feels on the thin side, but there is a light lingering bitterness to it that gives it some needed depth, a black coffee note with it. just a stout, not as well refined as it could be, and not a beer i would choose over their tasty porter...
