This is one of the darkest "pale" ales ever (that isn't an outright black ipa). Another darkish copper pour, 1/2" white head. Perhaps it is just the dark dive bar romantic like lighting in the place, because I've seen pictures of it where it looks normal and amberish in color. Aroma lacks hops, reveals an alt like malt presence. What the hell is going on here?
Taste, there is an earthy dustiness to it. Its not oxidized, but there is that cardboard kind of presence you get, similtar to when you age a barleywine 5+ years. The hops are just devoid here it seems, I like a Cascade hopped pale ale (SNPA, greatest evarrrr!) but it just isn't happening here. Its a shame too, I like the brewery setup. Usual crystal malt pale ale setup I can loathe sometimes, but in others (aforementioned SNPA) it pops and works great.
I hope to revisit this review the next time I have this beer, I don't like giving a new brewery a rough score on a flagship-ish beer. Higher carbonation, better light, might just lead to a better hop pop on this one.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
