didnt love this one, and there was some confusion, as i think this was intended as a chocolate mint thing, but that really isnt the experience, if there is mint in this its mighty subtle, it was not clear, but i didnt really get that. chocolate yes. its a lighter stout, brown more than black, kind of murky and a little unrefined looking and feeling, but its on nitro and they got that part right. its chalky tasting and feeling, dry cocoa character in the taste, slight astringency, maybe faintly herbal, a sweetness too, lactose likely, milk chocolate, but its a bit yeasty and rugged as they go, lacking the smoothness i was looking for with it. some tobacco and smoke and mid palate grain complexity, weirdly sweet though, and to me lacking the classic roasted barley back end balance that makes a stout a stout, this almost seems like a brown ale to me, or like second runnings, real light if you take away the sweetness. i wish it were cleaner, i dont know if its just faded or what, some brownie type chocolate character in it, no real mint to speak of whether there is supposed to be or not, smooth as they go because of the nitro, but definitely one of the weakest beers we had in here, just not on the level of their best, sloppy start to finish...
