No canning date (released on 6/11/21, so presumably canned within a few days of that date); consumed on 8/11/21
Pours an oily, jet-black hue with a quick spritz of pale mocha foam passing over the surface of the liquid before fading to nothing but an inky void with coconut particulate adrift throughout; no cap, collar, or lacing.
Aroma opens with boozy bourbon heat accented with wet oak barrel before espousing rich dark chocolate with underpinnings of coconut sweetness; a maple-soaked oakiness on the back end is leveled with a tingling of woody spice on the close.
Taste offers rich, melted dark chocolate and a seamlessly subtle coconut integration for an edge of sweetness at the forefront; maple melds with light bourbon presence over the mid-palate to delicately charry oak on the back end; hints of caramel meet intermittent wisps of more pronounced maple on the finish.
Mouthfeel brings a medium-thin body with minimal, readily perceptible carbonation, enveloped in slick texture peaking with hints of oily indulgence; slightly sticky past the mid-palate, though heavier booze on back end warms to a dry char on a quick finish.
Quickly traversing the bounds of subtlety and settling firmly on impact, concentrated adjuncts with a refreshingly tempered sweetness leave an impression, and while the barrel integration could use some fine-tuning, this turns into a solid effort with deceptive, nuanced touches among the appropriately malty-booze overlay.
