Thanks, Darin!
Was lucky enough to have this and nine others sent to me by Darin. Had heard of Vitamin Sea Brewing but had never had any of its beers. But it had to be good because it was a collaboration with Outer Range. Vitamin’s Facebook page called it “Seamounts DIPA, our collab with the Frisco Family Outer Range, utilizes a Golden Promise base malt which gives this a beautiful orange hue. We then hop it with Mosaic, East Kent Goldings and one of our new favorites, Talus!” Damn. I love Mosaic and really liked the two recent Talus-hopped beers I had (pink grapefruit, citrus rind, dried roses, pine, resin, tropical fruits and sage, with its roots from Sabro). Actually wasn’t familiar with East Kent Goldings even though it’s been around forever. Looks like the hop profile was lavender, spice, honey, thyme and earthy flavors.
Poured a medium yellow murky color with 2-to-3 fingers of frothy off-white head. Could see plenty of bubbles coming up along the sides of the glass. Excellent spotty lacing. Excellent retention. (Sight - 4.75)
Smelled Mosaic, Talus, floral, raspberry, blueberry, grapefruit, mango, guava, lemon zest, pine, dank resin and citrus notes. (Smell - 4.25)
Tasted even better than the nose. In order got Talus, pink grapefruit, rose blossom, floral, raspberry, blueberry, Mosaic, mango, guava, lemon zest, pine, dank resin, mint and lavender. Smooth for 8 pct. ABV. (Taste - 4.25)
Medium body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Long juicy finish. (Feel - 4.75)
This was a great beer. Really grew on me each sip. I just adore Talus. (Overall - 4.50)
