On tap at the brewery. Pours a beautiful opaque black with a huge three finger light tan head. 4.5
A - Aromas of crackers. 3.5
T - Nice light bitterness, maybe an a bit burnt, with light maltiness, some nuttiness, but little to no sweetness. 4.0 I like my Schwartz with just a hint of sweet.

another great beer in a traditional style from these guys, super well crafted and proportioned, although maybe a little less compelling than the others i had from them in the same session. its a little lighter than we often see in the style, past crimson to brown, glowing reddish with some light passing through, not black, but with a nice head on it and pretty lacing as it drinks. it still has a pretty dark aroma, some roast and dark cocoa evident, a german yeast strain for sure, and an almost syrupy european darker malt layer, but its not sweet when i taste it. some nutty character to the grain, the taste of brown sugar but not the sweet, a light soy or umami thing going on, and a soft but fresh hop flavor coming through the malt in the finish. the body is really light, and the flavor of the yeast is the very last thing i taste, it cleans this beer up really nicely. more relaxed carbonation than some of their others, and maybe a little less striking of a beer overall, but a tasty lighter example of the style that can work all year round. stoked to hopefully check these guys out later this week when i am on the road through salt lake!
