another excellent lager from these guys, this one is also crystal clear, but its a shade or two closer to gold than yellow, nice tall white head on it too. the aroma has a little dry earthy spice from the rye, but isnt overly aggressive, some noble type hops there as well giving it a light botanical aspect, pretty straightforward stuff, but the contribution of the rye in a nice light beer like this is nice, keeps it different from most of the rest of what is out there in the style. a light peppery pop to the rye in the taste, its real easy to pick out, and some nice hop bitterness, they make this kind of rustic even though its so well refined at the same time, and the whole thing is dry, bubbly, and gone in an instant on the swallow. i like this being as distinctively grain forward as it is, but also not having any sweetness at all associated with that, i think the rye does a lot for this, it might be a little dull otherwise. the lager yeast doesnt have much flavor here, but it does ferment this down to very dry, making it refreshing and clean in the finish. good stuff overall, but not as compelling as either their keller or their helles, at least in my opinion.
