amazing quality and execution here, this stands above almost all the other fruited kettle sour types i have had in recent memory, and might also be one of the best watermelon beers of all time, an instant highlight in the templin family portfolio for me, incredibly impressive and the perfect summer beer! between rose pink and ruby red from the tap, short airy white head settles quick, fizzy like today, lots of life to this, lovely color, not super clear or shiny but a lovely tone. the nose and taste are identical and there is a lot to love here. the watermelon is incredibly natural, like the juicy water part itself is what drives it, some generic melon character too, some green fleshy rind as well doubling down the authenticity of the real fruit, and somehow only minimal sweetness, gorgeous, maybe a little more fruit in taste than smell. i love how the base gose is not compromised by too much fruit, which is such a common thing with these. the wheat malt comes through plenty to keep it beery, the salt is awesome and not just on the finish, the minerals seem to enhance the watermelon and the saltiness to counteract some of the natural sweetness to help this finish fast and dry, and the sourness is very moderate, clean and lightly citrusy, but tidy and reserved so that this can stay incredibly drinkable and never very acidic. its juicy and refreshing, effervescent and light, and the flavors and textures marry perfectly. as good a beer in this style as ive had in a long long time, and one i wish i could have available to me in cans on the regular this summer, are they packaging it at all? i want my wife to taste this, shed love it too. elite level gose, brilliant use of the watermelon, and overall a splendid hot weather beer i wont soon forget!
