Tap pour at the taproom. Served chilled in dimpled mug with handle.
Clear, honey gold colored body. Two fingers of foamy white head, which has a long lasting duration. Leaves behind extensive lacing web.
Aroma of toasted bread malt and floral/spicy hops. Yeast yields some crisp esters.
Taste is malty, spicy, and floral. Yeast is dry and biting. A mineral element is evident. Aftertaste maintains the bite and includes grains and grass.
Medium mouthfeel. Crisp and clean finish, but the bite exists throughout.
Well done with its background sweetness and emphasis on the grains.

another fabulous lager from these guys, this time a czech pils, and man is it good! they keep branching out on the lagers and nailing it every time, these guys definitely deserve national attention at this point i reckon, definitely one of the best of the intermountain states, they slap top to bottom. this is super true to style, fresh, and well refined, and i want more of it right now. not the lightest colored one of these of all time, more honey colored than yellow, perfect clarity, and a high foamy white head with excellent retention, looks killer. the aroma is pretty hoppy, floral and fresh, some bitterness is evident, and a lot of grain character like this may have been decocted. dry cereals, granola, clean earthiness, some spiciness from the hops as it warms coming in, old world lager yeast, all of this in balance, totally on point. the flavor follows, really dialed, the yeast is there the whole way, drying but its not insanely dry, great mineral character, and the hops changing as it moves too, from light citrus and cut flowers up front to more intense bitterness and even peppery and grassy character on the back end, real clean overall but fairly complex beer as these go, impressive. the carbonation is wonderful, makes this refreshing and even more drinkable, the body is medium for the style, but its still kind of hearty with how much character the pils malt actually has here, which is cool. nice quick bitter back end, really killer example of the style, i wish this was sold in the boise area, id buy it all the time.

edit: every bit as good on tap at the source, flavorful but refreshing, mouthfeel elite, and the overall quality through the roof. this should be more celebrated than it is...

Jarda is next on the review table. I recently took a trip to Salt Lake for an appointment. I always visit a few local breweries; Templin has yet to be on my radar. Digging through my glasses, I found a German Pils glass and poured the liquid inside. I served the beer around 44 degrees. The color is SRM 4, pale straw with light golden hues. A frothy and airy two-fingered head was created from the pour. Above average head retention, dissipating slowly, leaving some lacing on the sides of the glass. Excellent clarity, with no other activity. Overall the appearance is average for this style. I would have preferred to see a longer-lasting head.
White pepper, a hint of cloves, light honeysuckle, toasted crackers, subtle malty sweetness, and a light grassy note is what I smell. The aromas are unpretentious but noticeable.
With the first sip, I let the beer wash over my palate, trying to see if the nose matches the taste. The white pepper and cloves are more prominent but not dominating. The honeysuckle floral flavor is light and gives a bit of sweetness, already there from the malts. The malts taste like toasted crackers and bread crusts. The grassy is more subtle than on the nose.
The mouthfeel is minerally and slightly astringent, finishing dry. A medium body and a has a medium carbonation.
The head retention was not dense and long-lasting. However, the aromas and flavors make up for it. The heavier, malty body was telling me this was a Czech Pilsner—stellar, well-made beer.

No canning date I could see, though I purchased it from the brewery last week.

Poured at fridge-ish temp into a weizen glass.

Pours perfectly clear golden with a more loose white head. 4

Grainy, grassy and slightly herbaceous aroma. A touch of sweetness and earthy grains. I think it's beautiful and fresh. 4.5

Biscuit, cracker (both buttery too) more grains, some herbal grassiness and perhaps a touch of floral hops, not bitter at all however. I seriously love it and wish I had more. 4.5

Mouthfeel is sharp biting carbo at first, though mellows out into soft crushable and smooth. 4.25

Overall I'm not at all left dissatisfied or wanting (except for more) after this. TF really knows how to do traditional styles and while this hasn't dethroned my love for their Kellerbier, it came damn close. 4.25
