another really neat beer in this series, intensely and uniquely flavored, clear glass, wild purple blue lavender color, insane aromatic on it, funky still, not for everyone, not even everyone in our little share group the night we opened it, but its definitely for me, one of the more unique beers i had this year and more evidence of just how great and diverse these guys really are, holy cow! muted soft springy purple, a little more grey towards the bottom but not messy, fizzy and high headed, looks really exotic in the glass, not sure ive really ever seen a beer this color before, almost unnatural looking in shade, but its not, definitely taking some color from the pea flower in it, a cool and uncommon beer ingredient. it smells like a bath bomb, straight perfume, too floral, over the top, like those little molded old lady hand soaps from the old days that look like seashells, like a bath and bodyworks store, like lotion, like a scented candle, forced and feminine, but its also appealing because past all the lavender is a cool fresh zested lemon brightness and acidity, a lot of herbal weirdness that i dig, and a cool fermentation profile with oak and brett, it just doesnt seem real beery without much grain coming through, no hops at all, and this level of aromatic intensity, way too much for some, but intriguing to me, even if the proportion of lavender here is a bit overkill, a tough ingredient to be subtle with, and they certainly arent here. the flavor is good though, more well rounded although still very perfume forward, lots of lemon though and its needed tang, plenty of mixed fermentation funk coming through, new oak character with compatible white wine and even vanilla nuance, pea flower is cooling which is neat, and the whole thing has bergamot, white tea, jasmine, and expensive hand cream vibes. i like it, i like how weird and fizzy it is, i like how its dry for being this bold, and i like the color, its avant garde and its very successful to me, even if i dont want a whole bottle and even if its kind of a polarizing thing, this circus series they do is a lot of fun, and beer is supposed to be fun, like the circus, im into it! curious to see how this one ages, if it could mellow out some on the lavender it might be even better...
