a pale ale with cascade hops, super old school, overly malty, but fresh as can be, so while i have a critique of the recipe, i really do not have one of the execution, a solid but simple beer, just seems dated to me, fresh as the hops are in here and bright as this drinks for being on the heavier side of pale ale. an almost copper color to this, even looks a little fuller in the glass, a medium type crystal malt adding both body and sweetness when i drink it, to me more malt than necessary. the hops are plenty robust, grapefruit and orange and spicy herbal intensity, but never all that bitter at the end, squarely in the pale ale realm. the fermentation isnt quite perfectly clean, a breadiness and mild astringency to the yeast, which was also present in their curious oktoberfest ipa, maybe an issue of fermentation temperature in here. fine carbonation, but to make this lighter it needs to be even more intense to keep it all moving, this warms up a little heavy, but overall a fine pale ale with a great hop profile for just one varietal. cool showcase of cascade.
