a hoppy pale lager with some new zealand hops happening in it, a great beer again from these guys, fresh and interesting and modern but unpretentious, which seems increasingly rare these days. it might have been made for the new restaurant by the same name, thats where we had it, and it just sings on the palate, fresh as can be, super alive, and hoppy in the best way. its not immediately obviously a lager to me, like i dont taste the yeast, its too hoppy to be crisp and clean in that traditional sense, and its bold for what it is, but the carbonation brings it close to that, and the freshness is next level, so it stays light and drinkable even though it has quite a bit going on. its clean to finish, with notes of juicy lemon and orange, immaculate brightness, some bitter too. this runs the bases pretty well, brings ipa and american lager together, and has a certain degree of professionalism that really turns me on. i had this with a curry whole fish at the restaurant yellowbelly, and it made me randy. more hoppy than most lager types, but well enough refined to be a ripper. drink all the rockwell beer you can, regardless of context though, these guys slay!
