My first beer from Smug! Been meaning to try them for a long time now, given they're local (only 10 minutes from me), but I never got around to going. Saw this one sitting at the liquor store and I remember my friend telling me it was good
Pours a hazy pale gold with a finger of white head that quickly fades to a thin collar and leaves no lacing
The aroma is a bit subdued, just light notes of coriander, sea salt, wheat, lime, and crisp malt
The taste thankfully improves big time over the aroma, pushing past the standard gose (and yes, it's listed as a wild ale as of now, which it's not). It starts off with notes of very tart lemon and lime, soft wheat, and sea salt, quite a nice balance. The swallow briefly intensifies the lactic sour, and brings notes of lime, coriander, a touch of peppery yeast, and bready malt
This beer has a medium body with moderate prickly carbonation, which results in a puckeringly sour yet refreshing brew, especially considering the high abv. Finishes a tad sticky but nothing that damages the feel
A pretty good offering, happy to finally try something from these guys. I could see myself getting it more often
