Pours very deep brown with about a half inch of dense foam. Foam stays as a cap for a while, then ends up as a hefty ring with some wispy islands. The foam does take its time sliding down the glass - not really like lacing, just kinda slinky.
The smell is like slightly toasty brown bread with a light milk chocolate and some sweetness that's a little brown sugary.
Super smooth on the flavor. It's fairly light on the roastiness yet its noticeable, no char. There's a faint milk chocolate taste or at least the suggestion of chocolate. Slight sweetness. Very mild bitterness - just a touch. Faint peppery spice and a tad bit of licorice spice.
Feel is light, slight chalkiness, neutral finish. Light onn the carbonation.
Overall, this is a nice beer. Easy drinker, good balance of flavors.

Dark, dark brown where the faintest light passes along the extreme edge of the glass. Beige head which settles to rim bubbles. Moderate streaks on the glass as the beer is consumed.
The smell has toasted brown bread notes along with a dose of black patent malt bitterness. Light chalkiness.
The body is neutral as is the carbonation which is appropriate for the style. Crisp with less bitterness than the smell suggests. Relatively dry with darker malt flavors (brown bread and darker chocolate. Easy to drink.

Pours a jet black with a finger of foamy head that slowly dissipates to a thin ring with some lacing. Aroma of roasted malt and trace cocoa. Taste follows nose.
