a really basic saison here, french type to me, could be nothing more than pale wheat and pils malt and some 3711 yeast, noble hops, fermented close to dry, really simple but fairly well executed in that there is contribution from all the elements, its not overly estery, and the texture is right, lighter medium body with expressive carbonation. i was hoping for something a little more interesting here, and always find myself a little disappointed when i get this kind of saison, but the execution is solid, especially for a brewery i had never heard of before. this maybe has a little more color and richness to it than is common, a pinch of crystal malt or something, just beefing it up slightly. hints of green pear, white pepper, and even fresh sage as it warms. i see they have a bottled brett saison, i wonder if its the same base, this seems to lend itself to brett pretty well, i wish we had picked up a bottle! it was cool to check this place out, a good addition to the blossoming tacoma scene. they are not brewing at this location i do no believe, but they have a great tap list, tasty looking pizza, and a killer patio. this saison is solid but conventional...
