Brewer’s Notes: On the palate hints of dark roast coffee and dark chocolate are at the forefront with a tangy note of blackcurrant for a slightly tart and dry finish. Hop presence is very low and in balance with the bitterness of the dark roasted malts.
4.2% ABV. we find this is best drunk at around 8C. 25 IBU
Translation: this is a shockingly light and refreshing stout. Hints of chocolate and coffee with a creamy mouth feel make it the perfect drink and dessert.

At my lady Pamela's house; canned and chilled, from the University Ave. West LCBO in nearby downtown Windsor. My first beer from the Wellington, ON brewery.

473 mL can from the LCBO; coded Sep 13 2022 and served barely chilled.
Pours a deep, clear chestnut brown colour with ruddy red highlights; gathered atop is nearly two fingers of lumpy, foamy, tan-coloured head that drops down to a tight collar and thin cap within five minutes or so. Lots of lovely lacing, too - looks good so far. Muted aroma of cocoa, roasted malt, dried dark fruits and mild coffee, with a touch of oatmeal.
It's a serviceable light stout - roasted malts, bread and oatmeal sweetness, with cocoa and hints of dried dark fruits. Faint ash and fruity, mild roast coffee dissipate into the finish, with a near-dry aftertaste. Light-ish in body, with moderate carbonation and a smooth, fairly thin mouthfeel. One thing to this beer's credit is that it's supremely easy to toss back, with definite session beer potential.
Final Grade: 3.52, a B grade. Midtown's Dry Irish Stout drinks a little like an oatmeal stout, but its thinness works against that angle. Basically, it's a decent session stout without any bells or whistles - not perfect, perhaps a bit forgettable, but there's no major flaws or defects here to give me genuine cause for complaint. I'll give this another couple of tries, because I enjoy lighter stouts and there aren't a plethora of other options in this category.

Pours black with a small tan head. Roasted malts on the nose. A bit of smoke, malts and coffee consist of the taste. Mouthfeel on the thin side.

473 ml can served coldish into a pint glass. LCBO purchase for $3.45 CDN.
Appearance-e Dark hazelnut brown and capped with almost two fingers of tan head. Sparse lacing but good retention.
Smell - A little bit of char and some subdued coffee notes. Not the biggest nose out there.
Taste - Watery with some middling bitterness, hints of coffee and char.
Mouthfeel - Medium bodied, lively carbonation and reasonably easy to drink. On the gassier side for the style.
Overall - Respectable offering, but not one I'm likely to come back to repeatedly.

Think Murphy’s rather than Guinness. Lighter in colour and in mouth feel than Guinness, this stout has a creamy head and both aromas and flavours of dark chocolate and coffee grounds. Moderate body good length and head - little or no lacing.

Very ordinary stuff. Understated. None of the chocolate, coffee, smoke, ash, or roastiness that you’d look for in an interesting stout. Nothing off about it, but no thrill either.
