16 ounce can poured into a glass mug.
L: Fairly clear gold-amber pour, one finger white head, moderate retention, no lace.
S: Nice whiff of bread then spicy/zesty hops.
T: Bread grain malt, corn becoming more pronounced as it warms, herbal hops, moderately bitter floral hop finish, some astringent alcohol flavor.
F: Medium-weight body, medium-high carbonation, opens crisp then smooths out.
O: Decent feel, flavor not as good, hop bitterness lords over the weak malt character.

So this is a festbier,. as opposed to the more traditional marzen, although they have been serving this style at the beer tents in Munich since the nineties I think. Certainly they were in 2000, when I visited and that Lou Bega song was blaring everywhere. This is pretty standard but has a solid bread note and a surprisingly resinous finish that has made this a multiple sixer purchase for me. Solid effort from the Frederick brewer.

Light fest beer. Nothing wrong. Nothing really stands out.
