On tap at brewery:
A nice head of beige stays with this beer though it doesn’t provide much lacing.
Nose has a damp wood note to the medium-toasted dark bread malt base. There’s also a pretzel-like impression here. Some hop notes of pine and lighter citrus pith lean this towards hoppy porter as much as black IPA.
Little fuller feel than expected from a black IPA, though I’ve had fewer DIIPAs over 9%. Still enough bitterness combined from roasted malt and hops to fit into a Cascadian dark style, but it could veer into a hoppy American stout.
A fairly tasty brew that leans on or blurs a couple similar styles. A very mild heat/astringency from the ABV/unknown that doesn’t kill the beer but sort of prevents a slightly higher rating from me. This is a fairly new batch, it might mellow a tad.
