This take on a classic German style is sure to refresh in the warm weather. Wort was inoculated in the kettle with a strain of lactobacillus. The wort was left to condition for roughly 48 hours and then boiled prior to fermentation. Sea salt and coriander added to the boil are balanced with the sour character of this sessionable beer. Congrats to Drink NoVa’s 1 yr anniversary.

On tap at brewery:
A bit of a lore amber body, mildly surprisingly. The head is a nice cap until I start drinking, when it starts to thin, perhaps because it leaves its bubbles on the glass wall.
Really light nose of lightly toasted wheat with an allusion to tart and a couple flakes of salt. Clarity is pretty high.
Similar taste, more of an amber ale than a wheat. The salinity and tartness are watered down, the former less so than the latter. The sour sorta builds up if you drink quickly.
There’s nothing bad here, but there’s a light hand that has this seeming a tad bland. It took me half the glass to appreciate it more, and I raised my scores from average. I think just a little more sour - not much - would bring this together more for me.
