a brett table beer and a darn good one, among my favorites from our visit to this rad brewery, and the kind of thing i was hoping to see on their menu with a name like future primitive. this is well refined, subtle in the right ways, and very drinkable for something on the wild side. almost clear, bright in the glass, pure warm golden color, airy white belgian looking head as it should have. nose is full of horsey bretty funk, some light spicy saison esters, and a simple mineral forward pils malt base, minimal in some ways, but also letting the brett do the majority of the work here, nice. the flavor is great, good balance with more hops on it than i could smell, maybe noble with some spiciness to them late, some thorough bitterness too, not a ton of citrus but some, all really compatible with the brett which seems to enjoy the hoppy resolution here. great funkiness, well developed brett profile overall, some hay and straw to it, wet wood, and dried herbs. clean on the grain side, light in body, and fully effervescent in texture. very well executed stuff, great use of the brett here, and a very drinkable beer overall. this is properly done, no tartness at all which i love for a change, a little belgian fruitiness too, awesome and underrated here on BA...

Clear golden color with abundant foam in the tall Stout glass. This is described as a "Brett Table Beer." It's brewed with three strains of yeast, including two brettanomyces, and aged for over 7 months. So it's ideal for a flavor learning panel, if you want to know what brett tastes like. Quite bitter, astringent finish that lingers long after you want to taste something else. Wheaty aroma with a faint sourish nose.

I think this could be a very interesting lower-alcohol beer, but it points up how strongly flavored the brett can be in the absense of much other flavor. Anyway, if you like that particular yeasty taste, here it is. Bright carbonation and refreshing, otherwise. From the 16 oz can purchased at the beer store.
