this is a huge beer, almost too big to be good, this style is tough, and they didnt do themselves any favors by letting the alcohol be so exposed, by leaving some sweetness, or by oversaturating the hops, while not really getting the best out of the varietals that are in here, i dig the effort but much less so the end result. i was initially stoked on it due to it containing sorachi ace, one of if not my very favorite hop, and so rarely seen in the imperial ipa context, but i think it hardly is there at all, at least not in its best form, lost to the other varietals and the overall magnitude of this. not hazy but not clear either, nice head on it from the tap there, looks lighter than it is actually. the beer isnt bad, its just not that good either, tons of alcohol through it, too much, hot the whole time, and it makes the hops permeate my tongue a little too deep, not to mention it already having some hop burn, sorachi clearly does not excel under these conditions. some mango and guava tropical notes that were unexpected, some bitter concentrated essential orange character, as well as more malt than it looks like it has. it does have good carbonation, and some of the intangibles are here, but this is an overly intense drink that really doesnt come through all that unique or even well done, especially in the context of all the other awesome beers we drank, and it stays with me a little too long. i guess you have to be in the mood to be kicked by a horse to want this, and i wasnt really there, to me its objectively fine but not really my cup.

Clear yellow brew with plenty of foam in the Hopleaf goblet. Peculiar aroma of something fruity and strange. Sharp and spritzy on the tongue, and then astoundingly sweet, like it is heavily dosed with lactose. Label only says "Cryo Pop & Sorachi Ace Hops." So it's bitter and sweet, but more just sugar. Orange juice and heavy syrup canned peaches. Weirdly sippable but I'd rather have the vodka and fruit cocktail without the aspirin.
