this time a clear one from these guys, seems like new ipa every week from them right now, and i have been digging just about all of them. this is crystal clear, which has not been the norm, high white headed and lacy looking as it drinks, a pretty beer, well refined and very bubbly. aroma and flavor are similar, some pine resin, good sativa, mango juice, and bitter orange zest, its fresh as can be, decidedly sturdy on the bitterness, and fruity without being forced. the malt base is simple, a pinch of light crystal on top of a pale two row barley, not a whole lot to it, just a touch of body and trace sweetness for balance, nice proportions on this overall. very clean ferment, maybe ever so slightly english, but its in the background and works nicely with the grain, the hops stand out plenty in the back half of this, have some oily slickness to them, and definitely bring a pine sap and juniper expression to the finish. lighter medium body, high carbonation, trace copper and wet soil at the end, nice beer overall, less distinct than their best beers in terms of hop profile, but this is proof they do the west coast types as well as the hazy ones.
