I visited E9 while down in Tacoma a month or so ago. On my visit, they had 12 beers on tap, including a porter, 2 sours, a BBA imperial stout, a saison, a kölsch, and 3 IPAs, among a couple other styles. The hoppy saison was the standout for me, although the IPA I had was also good. The kölsch and porter I had were decent, as well.
The inside area is welcoming but industrial in design, with the brewhouse in full view. The outside area is quite large, and was nicely heated on the rather chilly day I was there. A lively crowd added to the convivial atmosphere. Though there was no seating at the bar, the bartender was friendly, and they were getting through the line pretty efficiently.
My only disappointment here was with myself -- I was on foot and not really able to take any bottles to go with me. Next time, however, I'll definitely grab a few things.

This is for the production brewery, not the restaurant. A very cool Tacoma-type space, and the beer is totally solid, at a minimum, and often much better. I dropped by in January on my way out to the kitsap peninsula, because the traffic on I-5 was beastly. Wish I could have stayed for a few more hours, but as it was, it was great. Cool knowledgeable people serving, and the pizza and salad were pretty good.

This is their new brewpub location. Their old location (the firehouse after which they are named) is now a "restaurant and alehouse." I've been here a couple times (once for Zwanze day). In my opinion, they're one of (if not the) premier sour brewer in the state. They do standard styles very well. Service has been friendly, knowledgeable, and fun every time I've visited. I've never eaten at the big location (except when they were testing pizza recipes and handing out free slices to Zwanze line-waiters). Their selection is good (always some light stuff, some hoppy stuff, some funky stuff, and some sour stuff, and usually one or two dark/heavy things).
I will definitely continue to go back when I can.

i was bummed the original location was closed due to the pandemic when i was in town, but its hard to ask for a better experience than we had in here, the several times that we hit it up over the weekend. the space is awesome for one, a humble taproom area with an impressive bottle selection in cooler doors next to the bar, just a few tables here, but more seating among the stacks of barrels and rows of tanks and puncheons in the brew house, super heady setup to be able drink among the barrels. they also have a patio space with plenty of heaters, and well as a few chairs out front on the street, so we found a place each time, even though it was never quiet. if you are not familiar with their beers, you should get hip to it, they are doing some of the best hoppy beers and wild ales in the northwest, among some impressive other offerings. we had a ton of their stuff, including a new ipa they brewed for the red hot, a seasonally spot on schwarzbier, some vintage saison types in bottles, the latest cherry wild and farmhouse ales, a killer porter, a barrel aged barleywine, it goes on and on! all of it is fantastic, and i am now even more thankful that their beer is making its way to boise, i consider myself among their biggest fans. the staff was awesome to us as well, welcoming and friendly and full of good info. additionally, their pizza is off the charts good, i know there is a lot of good pie in this neck of the woods, but dont overlook these guys, i was fully stoked on the pizzas, and the prices of everything were super fair too. really cant say enough good about this place, hopefully the original location is open next time i am in town, but its hard to beat this place in every possible regard. take me back here! among my best brewery visits of 2020, reduced by the pandemic from usual rates obviously, but memorable. these guys rule!
edit: this place hits every time, i look forward to coming here, the pizza still slaps, the beer rules, and they host some of the best events in the game as well, great staff, the whole thing just does it for me! absolutely a favorite of mine anywhere...
