Look: It pours dark brown with good clarity. It has a tan head with very good head retention.
Smell: The aromas are subtle. It has roasted aromas with a bit of cola.
Taste: Strong roast and light cola in the flavor. There is a bit of chocolate in the background.
Feel: It has a medium body with a bittersweet aftertaste.
Overall, there don't seem to be many flavors, but what there is makes it well pronounce and pleasant.

A: Pours an opaque yet still clear extremely dark cola brown (approaching jet black) in color with moderate amounts of active visible carbonation rising along the edges of the glass and moderate dark chestnut brown _ dark amber colored highlights. The beer has a three finger tall dense creamy sudsy foamy tan head that slowly reduces to a large patch of slightly mottled very thin film covering the entire surface of the beer and a medium thick ring at the edges of the glass. Moderate amounts of lacing are observed.
S: Slightly stronger than moderate aromas of roasted + toasted + chocolate + caramel malts with a very light amount of caramel sweetness. Light to moderate aromas of earthy hop and moderate aromas of lager yeast.
T: Upfront there are slightly stronger than moderate flavors of roasted + toasted + chocolate + caramel malts with a very light amount of caramel sweetness. That is followed by moderate flavors of lager yeast. Finally there are light to moderate flavors of earthy hops. Moderate amounts of roasty bitterness is present and slowly fades away leaving a relatively clean finish.
M: Light to medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Slightly crisp with a light amount of dryness and a clean finish.
O: Easy to drink with well hidden alcohol and a very pleasantly crisp + clean mouthfeel. Quite enjoyable with a nice combination of roasty + chocolate + earthy flavors and aromas.

16oz can from Brewer's Haven. Dark brown pour, fizzy beige head. Rich roasted malt aroma. Taste is cola, coffee and chocolate. Just right amount of bitterness. Full, smooth. Really nice.

another real tasty beer in a style that i do not really know these guys for, but more proof they do everything to a very high standard, as if we needed it! this isnt as dark in color as some of these are, but that doesnt mean it is lacking depth. in fact, i think by leaving out the darkest roasted barley they have allowed for a little more excitement in the mid range, dry cocoa, raisin, and of course the geman lager yeast, which is somewhat delicate and might be overwhelmed by more roast and grain derived bitterness. this is remarkable full bodied and smooth, earthy, decidedly autumnal, and authentic while still being distinct, and this is a real hard style to pull that off with. i get some dried date, a prune note, and a hint of molasses, but this finishes on the dry side with some german malt character alongside the yeast. freshness is evident, which is not a common thought for me with one of these, but it stands out here. its mellow to drink, a fine sipper for a chilly evening, a cool example of the style, and something i easily could easily make a night of just about anytime. really nicely done dark lager, approaching technical perfection frankly...
