Czech-style amber lager made with Czech saaz hops. This beer has inviting complex bready notes met with caramel notes from malt.

they are calling this a czech amber lager, maybe because of the saaz hops, to me its closer to a vienna, at least based on the available style options here on BA, a nice brew, hoppy but balanced, drinkable but not boring, although not the best lager these guys do, thats a pretty high bar at this point. bronze in the glass, the light khaki head fades to just a thin ring around the edge, rather clear, not much visible carbonation but it feels right on the palate. aroma of toasted biscuity malt, not necessarily european to me, and somewhat substantial for a moment. not a ton from the lager yeast, and a mix of herbal bitterness and noble spiciness from the hops, a neat mix of elements. the flavor is not overly exciting but is probably slightly hoppier than many of its european counterparts, quicker finishing for being as malty as it is, cleanly fermented as these guys always deliver in the lagers, and something that works well in a late winter or early spring context, but also doesnt really register as one of their more memorable recipes. stoked to find this on tap in idaho though, the cans have been coming in hot, but the draft has been a little harder to come by. i love everything they do, the quality is always there. slightly more exciting than a conventional vienna type lager.
