Pours really dark brown, lightly barely penetrates, the head is light brown and bubbly, not much retention and no lacing.

The nose is lightly ashy, some roast is present, light dark fruit, mild sweetness.

The taste has a little more roast to it, very light almost watery chocolate, slight burntness to it, lightly and appropriately sweet.

Mouthfeel is light, slightly watery, smooth low carbonation, dry on the tongue, really light bitterness.

16oz can from Brewers Haven. Dark Brown, opaque pour, creamy beige head. Aroma is a blend of chocolate and roasted malts. Taste starts dry, dark malts, light roast, chocolate. Light, but full bodied.

Black, thick looking body and a creamy head. Not much of a smell- very light coffee and milk chocolate. Taste is caramel, roasted malt, semi sweet chocolate, light roast coffee, and a slight hoppy spice to finish things off. Smooth mouthfeel, with a dry finish. Pretty enjoyable, if you’re in the mood.

this is all out fantastic stout, and i am thankful to have gotten a four pack instead of just a single. with upright as the collaborating brewery, i knew it would be amazing, even though its more their wild stuff i know and love them for. in any event, this is a killer little stout, dry as a bone, beautifully can conditioned, low alcohol, and seemingly perfect for the chilly dark fall evenings that are upon us now. approaching coal black in color, matte, with an expressive, almost nitro looking head, creamy and tan, lasting, refreshed with a twirl of the glass, looks awesome. the aroma is heavy roast, a light root beer spiciness up front, and just a hint of smoke as well as a whisper of bready english yeast, simple and direct. the flavor profile is slightly more nuanced with some deep espresso on the low end, a burnt toast middle, dry baking chocolate too, and finally a big earthy mineral finish. its palate coating and almost creamy in texture, but effervescent and dry at the same time, i love the fermentation profile and efficiency, and this is as pleasing in terms of mouthfeel as it is in flavor, really really good. this is technical mastery of something quite simple, not as weird as maybe i hoped for with upright being involved, but really a world class no frills stout, perhaps the best example of the style i have had all year...
