tasty west coast type ipa from these guys, at least in that its clear, not particularly bitter, and a majorly modern dry hop profile, well made and drinkable. blonde from the tap, pale lager looking, fizzy and with an inch or more of tiny bubbles stacked up on top, good clarity, high shine. the nose is bright and fresh, but its not all hops, even though this looks super yellow, its actually got some malt to it, slightly brassy to me, short of toasted, but its not nothing. melon, pineapple, meyer lemon, champagne, and something just a touch spicy from the hops too in the nose. the flavor is a little more tame to me, but just as appealing, el dorado seems evident, not sure what else, but its new school to me, faint green onion, pine needle, lemon curd, and light pear. very fruity and alive to me, but balanced more than it looks like by an almost bready malt thing that works to support the hops and the alcohol strength, but also heavies this up just a bit. the carbonation pushes through, and this is still a pretty quick drinker. this should appeal to just about anyone who likes hoppy beer, good balanced, super clean and minimal ferment, and a totally contemporary hop profile. perhaps not their most striking or memorable ipa, but a flavorful and delicious brew overall, and it does well with spicy and salty food too! the rate of new beers from these guys has really slowed down, at least around boise, but i always bite when i find a new one!
