Cork-topped 375mL bottle of the mysterious and psychadelic Chuck's (of Chuck's hop shop) Exotic Ale from E9. Served in a tulip. The beer has surprising clarity, which is lucky because there's a bunch of chunky sludge left on the bottom of the bottle (oops, and a tiny bit at the bottle of my glass). Brassy amber in color, with very little head formation. Mild aroma with a hint of maybe lemongrass. Flavor has a distinct tartness, lemon flavor, almost like unsweetened lemonade. Lemongrass isn't quite right, but there is kind of a vegetal bitterness going on here too. Carbonation is sharp, which works pretty well in a slow-sipping sour beer like this.
Brewer's notes: Collaboration blend of a combination of mixed culture ales, aged in neutral french oak barrels and a special gin barrel from our friends at Copperworks distilling. "Exotic" citrus aromatics from the addition of meyer lemon and yuzu zest.
