On tap at the brewpub the other day.

The beer pours darkish brown color with purple highlights. The beer seemed to be essentially still, and so there was no real head retention or lacing. The nose is attractive, as I got something of a plum, black cherry, chocolate and light wine aroma that was pretty nice. A little more intensity would have been appreciated, but regardless, this is one very nice smelling beer. The flavor profile replicates the nose, with a hint of sour in the finish. The beer is moderately sweet otherwise, but the sour component in the finish helps to counter that sweetness very well. The beer is otherwise delicious, though I think it might have benefited from a bit more carbonation. Mouthfeel is fairly full, with a long, smooth, slightly sour finish. Alcohol was well disguised and integrated into the flavor profile... this really doesn't drink like a 10% abv. beer.

Had already been to a reception earlier in the day, and after a couple glasses of Boneyard pale ale, my palate was likely not at its best when sampling this beer. Hopefully I'll have the opportunity to try it again some day, as this was really an impressive, enjoyable to drink beer from E9.

A: Poured a deep purplish color with dark red almost cranberry colored hues and highlights with a small dirty white cap, leaving sme light lacing behind

S: Upon immediate sniff I was hard pressed to get a good nose but after about five minutes or so this beer opened up to a nice dark fruit meoldy of purple grapes, some figs, alittle Earthy with light wood and light candy

T: Extremely smooth. The initial taste rocks the buds with a copious amount of purple grapes, a light fig, raisin which leads into a light Belgian candy sugar sweetness blended with a push of Pinot. The finish is sweet, a bit dry and lingering but tasty

M: Leans toward the bigger body, lowly carbonated and creamy + decadent. Lingering sweetness and fruits reside on the palate for a while after the initial sip

O: I would dare say this is the best beer E-9 has ever made and I really loved Old Dickens.
