We love a good bat flip. We're huge baseball fans, but the shutdown has left us waiting for Opening Day. Luckily, Korean Baseball is alive and well. We've all adopted our own KBO teams and made some wagers. Excessive celebration is kinda what we do at Torch & Crown, and we’ve fallen in love with the electric bat flips that help define the league. Bat Flip is a refreshing golden ale with a subtle, aromatic melon character on the nose and a crisp, quick finish.

On tap at the brewery earlier today.
Decent looking beer, yellow body, gradually reducing head, streaks of lacing. Nondescript aroma. On tasting, very clean, malty, mildest of hop notes. Refreshing, easy drinking.

473 ml can, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 5.4%. Very pale golden colour, large to moderate white head. Nice aroma of grapefruit, honey melon and pine, hints of menthol and camphor. The mouthfeel is a bit thin. Flavour of citrus, moderate to low bitterness. Fairly refreshing.

On draught at the brewery taproom.
L: Looks like fresh-squeezed mango (cloudy, dark yellow/orange) with a thin head that collapses quickly but leaves some lacing.
S: Tropical fruit, but very light. Served very cold so more aroma may emerge if left to warm.
T: Plenty of sweet orange, mango and pineapple flavour. No resin or dankness to speak of. Bitterness is light.
F: Light body, clean mouthfeel and a soft, dry finish.
O: An easy-drinking, highly approachable ale. Much more a session NEIPA than I was expecting from the description. In talking to the barman, it looks like the recipe has changed since it was first released. Switched from southern to northern hemisphere hops.

A: The beer is slightly hazy yellow in color and has a moderate amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a quarter finger high white head that died down but consistently left a short head covering the surface and lots of lacing down the sides of the glass.
S: Light aromas of honeydew melon are present in the nose.
T: The taste follows the smell and has delicate flavors of melon.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer is very easy to drink and the subtle aromas and flavors of melon help to keep it from being bland.

Slightly cloudy, golden color with a finger of head which dissipates. This beer smells delicious, with very strong mango on the nose. Melon, crisp taste with slight hay. I just found out about Torch & Crown, and all of their beers have been outstanding. Definitely a great summer ale that's easy to drink and refreshing.
